    FAQs

    What is positive psychology consultancy?

Positive psychology consultancy applies research about strengths, motivation, wellbeing, relationships and effective functioning to help individuals, teams and organizations. A consultant may help assess needs, design an intervention and evaluate results. The approach should be evidence-informed and adapted to the client rather than built around a generic promise to make people happier.

What is the difference between consulting, coaching and training?

Consulting usually involves analyzing a client’s situation and recommending or supporting organizational change. Coaching supports a person or team in developing their own goals and actions, while training teaches defined knowledge or skills. Consultancy skills training helps practitioners decide which role is appropriate, agree a clear scope and avoid presenting one service as another.

Is positive psychology consultancy the same as therapy?

No. A positive psychology program may help coaches, trainers, managers or consultants use strengths-based and wellbeing-informed practices, but it does not qualify someone to diagnose or treat mental illness. Practitioners should work within their competence, explain the limits of the service and refer individuals to an appropriately qualified clinical professional when necessary.

How can organizations measure whether a wellbeing intervention is effective?

Measurement should begin with the problem the intervention is intended to address. Retention or performance can be measured alongside qualitative feedback. Workplace wellbeing training should encourage proportionate measures and avoid claiming that one intervention caused an improvement without sufficient evidence.

Who can use positive psychology consultancy skills?

Consultants, coaches, trainers, HR professionals, learning and development specialists and managers may apply these skills within an appropriate professional scope. Positive psychology consultancy can support organizational development, leadership, team effectiveness and wellbeing initiatives, but further credentials may be required for regulated, clinical or formally accredited coaching work.
